Partridge.......( Thanks Costas)

We found this partridge walking around our yard this spring, he stayed for a couple of weeks,and then he was gone..

Thats a partridge Kim. It used to be common in Greece and Crete also. There are not many left on the mountains of Crete now, due to their hunting. When I was a kid they were everywhere around the village and we could hear them singing at around the sunset, just before they were ready to settle for the night. It is a beautiful bird and I was really moved when I saw a big colony of them around the Poseidon Temple in cape Sounion near Athens, where they are protected.
